Albert Alexander, 88, of Mountain View died May 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in California, he retired as an electronic technician for RCA and Litton Industries. Private services held. Survived by wife, Annette Alexander of Kurtistown; daughter, April (Bruce) Hayward of Arkanans; sister, Evelyn (Wayne) Poff of California; numerous nieces and nephews. Matilde B. Balboa, 99, of Honokaa died May 8 at home. Born in Darrat, Pinili, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was homemaker and a member of the Honokaa Saranay Club and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. William M. “Gabe” Gabriel Sr., 89, of Mountain View died May 5 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paauilo, he was a retired aircraft mechanic at Hickam Air Force Base on Oahu and a veteran in the U.S. Army. He also was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View. Stanley “Pogot” Sadaaki Iwashita, 71, of Hilo died April 14 at his home. Born in Hilo, he was a longtime fisherman and retired carpenter foreman for Isemoto Contracting Co., had also worked for M. Sonomura Contracting Co. and Constructors Hawaii Inc. and a member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission, Big Island Karaoke Club, Hui Okinawa, The Mushroom Group, and Carpenters Union Local 745. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Rose Lokelani Ho‘a Spencer, 87, of Lihue, Kauai, formerly of Laupahoehoe, died at home on March 30. Born in Keaukaha, she was co-owner of Spencer Equipment Corp., and was a dedicated homemaker. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, at Laupahoehoe Congregational Church with visitation from 9-11 a.m.; services at 11 a.m.. Casual attire. Survived by one daughter, Lavern (Pat) Roberts of Oahu, one son, Enias “Kalau” (Noelani) Spencer Jr. of the Big Island; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Dorothy S. Yasutomi, 95, of Hilo died Apr. 22 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kainaliu, she was a homemaker and a member of the Taishoji Soto Mission. Private services held. Survived by daughters, Irene (Ken) Namimatsu of Saratoga, Calif., Leilani Katherine (Sakae) Higaki of Hilo; son, Kenneth (Ann) Yasutomi of Hilo; son-in-law, Donald Komatsu of Hilo; brothers, Frank (Jane) Nakamura of Honolulu, Tokuro (Hisako) Nakamura of Honolulu, Riozo Nakamura of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Alika Liwai Kuheana’s obituary in the Saturday, May 11, edition contained a misspelling of the name of a survivor. Kuheana is survived by sister, Jamelle (Benson) Galicinao of Honolulu.
